Austin, Texas or an Unexpected Homage to Jean-Luc Godard

These streets don’t match the map inside me.
This tower wasn’t foreseen when I spoke with Rosarinho
These people are different
until the claims of books and newspapers say otherwise
This face was adored by Alicibiades
This confusion is modern
I am a mirror where others ask their questions

Mothers do not exist
            Parents die
This temple is loathed
The unhappy [omission] homeless, the truly disinherited
have cars and live in airy apartments
[missing subject]Mix my water with city water
Initiation is difficult No priests help
the madonna cross the dangerous street
His voice would say
Portuguese verses of the thirteenth century

    The ladies come and go
    speaking
        of someone other than Michelangelo

The tower is a celibate machine
that kills with American efficiency

The ready smile  Come back!  Anonymous kindness
have (not always) contradicted
the damp abyss
The luster of gun barrels
Ambiguous and troubled virility

What dreams torment me in this place
where men don’t speak?

Someone hides the artificial moonlight of the city

There is an invisible source that speaks to me
directly

And the peace
And love
Are again possible

  1. Suggestions and comments:

Maybe in the 4th verse the best option would be "even" instead of "until".
Where is said "Parents die" should be "parents have died", it would be more correct according to the original.
The verse "Têm contrapontos (nem sempre)" should be translated as, for instance, "they have (not always) counterpoints"
Where is read "where men don't speak", it would me more accurate if it was "where men don't communicate".
Finnaly, in the verse "Someone hides the artificial moonlight of the city", by using the verb "to hide", it gives a different meaning of the one in the original text; it should be something like "closes" or "fastens".

And these are my comments, you're free to discuss them =)
