On the Politics of a Good Neighborhood

It is cold on these american mornings
of little democracy
It is cold a malignant cold
like a crescendo of tentacles
                                        always
                                              invisible
                                                      almost
and at times like university students
                                                                 [and sometimes even the literati
Of the C.I.A.
It is cold
            in the abyssal interstices
Of americans for americans

It is cold
            who turned out the light?
Is it you?
            Who is there?

It is cold
            getting increasingly colder

Afraid?

Those who are afraid buy a dog
An anti-communist dog

O veludo...

The velvet is explosive       The music elicits
Labyrinths
I bring you the weight of millions of years of light
The fragment of inland earth does not back down
From the ethereal curve where the salt of dawn collects
There are other worlds travelling another space
Real
From star to imagined star
Worlds that if they arrive at whom they hold dear
Like unicorns
That in our view comes up with the substantial drink
Water
